General Library

Te Herenga Mātauranga Whānui

The General Library supports the research, teaching and learning programmes of the faculties of Arts, Creative Arts and Industries, Business and Economics, Engineering and Science.


About the Library

The General Library is the largest library in the University Library system, and houses a number of notable collections. The Pacific and Mātauranga Māori research collections, with a focus on quality resources, are on Level M. There is a similar regional emphasis in the Map and Aerial Photograph Collection, also on Level M. The Audiovisual Collection is available from the helpdesk and specialist viewing equipment is on Level G. The Paterson Collection is a closed collection of books on classics and Biblical studies. Staff and students can borrow and return books using the self-issue machine and the automated services – Client Services staff are available at the helpdesk on Level G. You can also collect and return your Interlibrary Loan items at the helpdesk.

Access to the University's wireless network is available on all levels of the General Library.

The General Library is the home of our Student Hub, City Campus.
