Information Commons Group
The Information Commons Group is run by the University Library.
Purpose
The Information Commons is an integrated learning environment where all students have access to electronic information resources, electronic learning materials and productivity software, allowing them to integrate information into course work.
The main purpose is to provide access to electronic learning and information resources.
Students are able to retrieve information from library databases, e-journals and e-books, access course work through the University's e-learning system, send email and browse the Internet, use MS Office and other specialist software - all on the same computer.
The development of computer and information literacy skills is a key focus area of the Information Commons and opportunities for training are integrated into all aspects of service.
Use of the Information Commons is outlined in the Library and Information Commons – Rules and Directions for Use.
