How to request items from the Catalogue

You can request books and collect them from any of our libraries.  You can also request book chapters and journal articles and have them emailed to you. 

  1. Sign in to the Catalogue.
  2. Find the item you want.
  3. Click on the title to see the request options.
  4. Click Get item if you want a book.
  5. Click Get part if you want a chapter or article to be scanned and emailed to you.
  6. If you have a deadline enter the date required.
  7. Click on request.
  8. You will receive an email when your item is ready.​

When you request a book someone else has borrowed 

You can also request books that are already on loan. These will have an On Loan status in the Catalogue.  

  • Allow 5-6 days for a requested item to be returned.  
  • Use My Library Account to check the status of your request. 
  • The library will send a notice to your student email address when the item is available and indicate the date by which you need to collect it.

When a book is recalled from you

When someone requests one of your library books, you may need to return it earlier. You are guaranteed a minimum loan of 5 days.

  • The library will send a due date change and recall notice to your student email address.
  • Please return the requested book by the new date, which overrides the original due date. 
  • Overdue books that have been requested incur a fine of $3 per day.

Studying offshore: Request an article or book chapter 

If you are studying offshore, you can request book chapters and journal articles and have them emailed to you.

  1. Sign in to the Catalogue.
  2. Find the item you want.
  3. Click on the title to see the request options.
  4. Click Get part to request a chapter or article to be scanned and emailed to you.
  5. If you have a deadline enter the date required.
  6. Click on request.
  7. You will receive an email when your item is ready.
