Suggestions - Library and Information Commons

November, 2016

Is there something that could be done to speed up login on IC computers? This is an issue especially on the express PCs when you are only looking to print something and often end up waiting more than 3 minutes until you are shown the desktop.

    Hi Bob,

Thanks for contacting us.

Changes are being made to our computers at the start of December this year, this means that there will be significant improvements to all our IC computers coming and expected by January next year.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards.

Hello, Although this semester is nearly finished, the information commons is not a place for someone to watch videos, eat and laugh loudly. It is really annoying.

    Hi Zoe,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us.

We are in the process of reassessing signage about eating and drinking at computers. As for laughing and talking, we will remind staff to monitor this matter more closely.

Thank you.

On floor two there are many power sockets that do not work! These are on the side that overlooks Albert Park

Thank you for the heads-up. I will request the maintenance staff to check these power sockets are operational.

During the exam period, the area just outside the library should be cleared of students because the noise they make after they come out of their exams is very disruptive where ever you are in the library- you can hear their loud voices on every single floor. Just put signs up for that area to be cleared or get the library security guards to move them on

Thank you for the feedback. I will pass on your concerns to Campus Security.

We should be able to eat what we like at the desks on every floor
    I
    Eating in the library
We aim to create and maintain a environment that is conducive to quiet study. We therefore do not allow hot, juicy, or odorous in the library, however, snack food that does not distract others is acceptable.

Could you put up some signs telling users not to eat and drink at the computers? I am tired of having to ask staff to tell the users.
