Te Fale Pouāwhina: Academic learning skills for Māori and Pacific students

Te Fale Pouāwhina provides a student-centred and professional service based on kaupapa Māori and Pacific principles.

Māori and Pacific Learning Advisers are passionate about Māori and Pacific student success. The focus is on academic skills development at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Learning Advisers work with a range of Māori and Pacific services across the University. Face-to-face learning opportunities include workshops, study groups, wānanga/fono and advisory sessions.

Leadership Through Learning

Leadership Through Learning is designed to build academic literacy and empower leadership capacity amongst Māori and Pacific learners who will lead, empower and transform. Workshops run for one hour per week over 12 weeks in Semester One or Two. Leadership Through Learning is for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Te Wheke Postgraduate Programme

Te Wheke offers Māori and Pacific postgraduate scholars’ (Honours/Masters/PhD) services, development opportunities, and events to enhance their academic success. The programme runs once a week on Wednesdays, 2-6pm.

Te Tohu ā Te Rangatira: Leadership Through Mentoring

This year-long programme provides ongoing professional development for Tuākana tutors and mentors. Participants are required to attend four sessions offered during semester breaks. Sessions are designed to provide the tutors and mentors opportunities to enhance their teaching and learning practices and develop their communication skills.
