Language workshops

These workshops are designed to help you gain control over challenging aspects of English so that you can write more accurately and communicate more clearly with your reader. Learning Advisers will answer your questions, give you the opportunity to practice what you are learning and highlight other language resources.

Using the article system Learn how to make decisions in the correct use of the definite (the), indefinite (a/an) and zero articles.
Using active and passive voice Receive guidance and practice in using voice accurately and strategically in academic writing.
Using verb tenses Get advice about the use of tenses, particularly in regard to citation styles and tense choices.
Creating simple sentence structures Receive guidance and practice using the basic sentence forms in English.
Creating complex sentence structures Learn the techniques for expanding simple English sentences into more complex structures.
Editing and punctuation Become familiar with how sentences can be polished by avoiding errors in grammar, spelling and punctuation.
