Computer facilities

The University of Auckland provides computers for students’ academic use and class teaching.

Computing facilities are located on all campuses in faculty computer labs, libraries and information commons. The courses you are enrolled in determine which additional computing facilities and software you will have access to. Computer use is subject to the terms and conditions as described in relevant IT policies.

You can borrow a laptop from the helpdesk in these locations:

The following conditions apply:

  • You must present your Campus Card (ID) to borrow a laptop.
  • Borrowing a laptop has a 'same day' loan policy. Therefore, you must return the device on the same day and prior to the helpdesk closing.
  • Laptops cannot be borrowed overnight.
  • Laptops will not allow you to login while off-campus.
  • You must comply with all conditions for laptop use and are liable for costs incurred as a result of loss, theft or damage as per the Library Statute.

Overdue or lost laptops

  • Borrowing blocks are applied when a laptop becomes overdue. This will prevent any further borrowing or renewing of physical library items as well as laptops. Return the laptop to have the block lifted. See our website for more information about blocks.
  • If you lose the laptop, you will be charged the replacement cost, which will not exceed $2,000.
