Requests for items on loan

Requesting an item already on loan

When you request an item which is already on loan

Items on loan will have an On Loan status.

Requests can be placed using the Find in Library tab in the Catalogue. When a request is placed please note the following:

  • Allow 5-6 days for a requested item to be returned.
  • The Library will send an Item Available notice to your email address (Students: this will be your student email address unless you have entered a redirect in Student email), or your nominated postal address.
  • The Item Available notice will indicate the date by which the item must be collected from your chosen pick-up library (usually five days’ time).
  • Use My Library Account to check on items you have requested.
  • Ask Library lending desk staff for assistance if you are unable to request an item.

When an item is requested from you

When an item is requested from you, note the following to avoid fines:

  • The Library will send a Due date change notice to your email address (Students: this will be your student email address unless you have entered a redirect in Student email), or your nominated postal address.
  • You must return the requested item by the new due date, which overrides the original due date, preferably to the library from which it was borrowed.
  • Your borrowing privileges will be blocked if you do not return the item by the new due date. Overdue books that have been requested incur a fine of $3.00 per day.
  • You are guaranteed a minimum loan of 5 days from the date of first issue if an item is requested from you.
  • Standard loan items that are requested within five days of the original due date are still due on the original due date.
