What you need to get started
To access the full range of library services available to you, you usually require a Campus Card (ID), email address, and a username and password.
Campus Card (ID)
- Your Campus Card (ID) enables you to access a range of University services, including borrowing, and you may be asked to present it as proof that you are a student or staff member of the University.
- If your Campus Card (ID) is lost or stolen, report it to your nearest Student Hub and visit a Campus Card Centre for a replacement.
- Your Campus Card (ID) cannot be used by anyone other than yourself. You are responsible for all items borrowed on your card.
- The University of Auckland ID card expires every six years. You will be sent a message to renew it 30 days before expiry.
Students
You will usually obtain your Campus Card (ID) once you have enrolled. For more information:

Staff

Associate Members with borrowing privileges
Once your membership has been confirmed by the Library, visit a Campus Card Centre to get your Campus Card (ID).
Email address
Your email address is used for the delivery of library notices.
Students
You are provided with a Student email address as part of enrolment.

Staff
New staff should have their email account set up as part of their appointment process. For more information:

Username and password for electronic access
You will need a username and password to access a range of online services from the Library and Information Commons, including the Library's extensive range of licensed electronic resources.

Students
New students should receive their username and password in their Acceptance of Application letter from the University. For more information:

- Visit the Student IT Hub, Level 2, Kate Edger Information Commons, City campus, during opening hours.
Staff
New staff should receive their username and password from their manager or departmental administrator once Human Resources has received the appropriate forms. For more information:

- Contact the IT Service Desk.
Associate members with electronic access privileges
- Associate Members may access a limited set of electronic resources off-campus. They may access a fuller range of databases from library computers, where licence agreements permit.
- Once your membership has been confirmed by the Library, contact the IT Service Desk for your password:

Photocopying and printing
To copy and print in the libraries and information commons, you need:
- A University of Auckland Campus Card (ID), or your username and password.
- Sufficient funds in your print and copy balances.
