The Sylvia Ashton-Warner Library supports the research, teaching and learning needs of Faculty of Education and Social Work staff and students on the Epsom and Tai Tokerau campuses.

About the Library

A library for student teachers was established at the Auckland Teachers' College in 1906. Located in Epsom since 1925, the Auckland College of Education, including the Library, was amalgamated with the University of Auckland in 2004. The Library was named in honour of Sylvia Ashton-Warner, the internationally acclaimed New Zealand teacher and writer, in 1987.

Resources in the Library are provided for education, teacher education, social work, counselling and human services. To learn more about the collections of the Syliva Ashton-Warner Library (Epsom), including the Archives of the Auckland College of Education and the Sylvia Ashton-Warner Collection, see Collections.

An Information Commons and a visual support room with computing and scanning facilities are located inside the Epsom Library.
