Hayward, 2002. The file consists contains over 4000 entries, including all known theses on New Zealand earth science as well as theses on overseas geological topics undertaken within New Zealand Universities. The main part is a zipped EXCEL spreadsheet as well as an online descriptive word doc file. Note that the spreadsheet is 0.6 MB in size. Earth and Moon Viewer You can view either a map of the Earth showing the day and night regions at this moment, or view the Earth from the Sun, the Moon, the night side of the Earth, above any location on the planet specified by latitude, longitude and altitude, from a satellite in Earth orbit, or above various cities around the globe. Images can be generated based on a full-colour image of the Earth by day and night, a topographical map of the Earth, up-to-date weather satellite imagery, or a composite image of cloud cover superimposed on a map of the Earth, or a colour composite which shows clouds, land and sea temperatures, and ice.

Encyclopedia of geomagnetism and paleomagnetism
Latest New Zealand Earthquake Report Records details of the most recent earthquake measured at the Seismological Observatory, Wellington. Also has links to earlier NZ earthquake data and international earthquake data.
Memento Mori A web interface to the earth displaying streaming seismographic data measured continuously from a site near the Hayward Fault above University of California at Berkeley. The earthquake detector is a Streckeisen STS-1 seismometer that measures vertical ground velocity. Data is collected by the Berkeley Seismological Laboratory and relayed to a server in the Alpha Lab.
Southern California Earthquake Center The Southern California Earthquake Center (SCEC), a National Science Foundation (NSF) Science and Technology Center, aims to reduce earthquake hazard by defining the locations of future earthquakes, calculating expected ground motions, and conveying this information to the general public. The SCECms homepage provides access to research and data, including links to databases for strong motion and seismograms, and a searchable and sortable bibliographic database of publications. A link to the Earthquake Information Network provides a searchable list of up-to-date internet earthquakes resources. Also available are GPS data and a network of GPS stations. Note : in order to access the SCEC Publications Database, a username and password are required. Use your own name for the username, and enter _webview_ as the password.

Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences (GNS) Access to GNS maps both print and online
Maptech MapServer Contains over 60,000 topographical maps, nautical charts, aeronautical charts, and aerial and satellite photographs covering the United States. You can search for maps in several ways, including by city, state, zip code, latitude and longitude. Once a map has been displayed, clicking on any area in the map will also show you the latitude and longitude. Tabs at the top of the map let you select the different maps available for the area. For many maps, you can also change the scale, or zoom in and out from the map's centre.
New Zealand Geography Network Eagle Technology Topographic Data allows you to view topographical maps of New Zealand and, from an outline map of New Zealand, to zoom in to any particular locality to obtain a detailed map. Maps may be displayed using either the New Zealand Map Grid projection of the new New Zealand Transverse Mercator projection.

Republic of Georgia maps The Topographical Engineering Centre (TEC), part of the US Army Corps of Engineers, has put up a "Georgia Crisis" webpage with scanned maps, reports and earth science data about the Republic of Georgia.
The 50 U.S. States Government Sources: State Maps A list of sources for United States road and highway maps, at the state level. The University Library's Map Room on Level M has a comprehensive collection of these maps.
Satellite Images From geology.com. Categories include US states, cities, meteor impact structures, countries of the world, and regional satellite images.
Union list of archival, manuscript, and theses geological maps of New Zealand Coverage is of New Zealand and outlying islands (Antipodes, Auckland, Bounty, Campbell, Chatham, Kermadec, Snares, Solander and Three Kings) and the Ross Dependency. Included maps show distribution of mineral deposits, geology, geophysics, and geochemical phenomena. Not included are lease, cadastral,bathymetric, topographic, locality maps of boreholes, mine workings or plans, cross sections, seismic profiles, and geologic columns. It is also available to download as an EndNote file or an Excel spreadsheet.

Ocean Drilling Program The Ocean Drilling Program (ODP) consists of basic research into the history of the ocean basins and the nature of the crust beneath the ocean floor. New Zealand Fossil Electronic Database (FRED) This is a registration scheme for recording fossil localities in NZ and nearby regions, including SE Pacific Islands and the Ross Sea region of Antarctica. It is maintained jointly by Geological Society of New Zealand and Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences, and now contains grid references and stratigraphic information for over 80000 localities.

United States Geological Survey The Publications Warehouse has a Basic Search and an Advanced Search. The California Geotour An interactive index of webpage links to online California geologic field trips and geology related websites. The webpages listed in the index are grouped by California Geologic Provinces, and have been developed by the Department of Conservation, California Geological Survey.
Geologic Guidebooks of North America Contains the information listed in the Union List of Geologic Field Trip Guidebooks of North America. Guidebooks contain a road log, descriptions of geological features along an itinerary, a geographic index and a stratigraphic index. Most guidebooks included are from the period 1940-1988.
