    • Consensus forecasts
      'Short term forecasts of the New Zealand economy by averaging forecasts produced by a variety of organisations, including NZIER. Because forecasts are averaged across contributors, they provide a useful benchmark. Variables covered include economic growth, prices and interest rates.'

      Previously called New Zealand Industry Outlook, this publication is a supplement to Quarterly predictions. Sectors commented on are: agriculture, fishing, forestry & logging, textiles & apparel manufacturing, mining & quarrying, food, beverages & tobacco, wood & wood products, pulp & paper products, chemicals, non-metallic minerals, basic metals, machinery & other manufacturing, electricity, gas & water, construction, trade & accommodation, transport & storage, communications, finance, property & business services, central & local government services, and health & education services. Sectors tend to be looked at in terms of past trends, current issues and future prospects and risks. Includes graphs and tables.

      Contents include an overview , business outlook, the domestic and external picture, and background including government, monetary, international. Tables and graphs are included and there is also a good statistical appendix.

      Data is based on a sample survey of over 1000 businesses with respondents reporting on their past 3 months and what they expect of the next 3 months. Contents cover an overview, economy wide, architects, manufacturers, building industry, merchants, services, and Australia. The questionnaire and responses are given in the Appendices. Data for the past 10 years is graphed
  • New Zealand Trade Liberalisation Network not a commentary site on the economy as such but focuses specifically on trade and includes speeches and submissions

      Gives background political and economic information. There are brief comments on industry sectors, political background, currency, external payments and debt, trade and investment regulations. Statistical tables contain 3 to 5 years data. A companion publication to New Zealand country report.

      ‘An analysis of economic and political trends every quarter’.
