Record - Systematic Thesaurus
The
Systematic Thesaurus compiled by Thompson Scientific comprises around
7,000 taxonomic names of family level and above arranged
phylogenetically in a hierarchical classification scheme representing
the various taxonomic groups of the animal kingdom. It is not intended
to be authoritative, but is based on established, standard reference
works and accepted classification schemes. Sections of the hierarchy
covering groups whose taxonomy is less stable are often not further
subdivided, in order to maintain consistency in placement of taxa. The
list also includes extinct fossil forms.

Visible
Human Project
This project is creating complete, anatomically detailed,
three-dimensional representations of the male and female human body.
The current phase of the project is collecting transverse CT, MRI and
cryosection images of representative male and female cadavers at one
millimeter intervals. The long-term goal of the Visible Human Project
is to produce a system of knowledge structures that will transparently
link visual knowledge forms to symbolic knowledge formats such as the
names of body parts.
