Palaces Château de Versailles (France) / Domaine National de Versailles.  An introduction to the palace at Versailles, France.  Of primary interest to architecture students is Explore the Estate, which contains a history of its construction and information and images of the main building, the Trianon palaces, grounds, and the town.  A look is also provided at some of the Masterpieces in the palace and the site provides information and photos about the storm damage of December 1999.

Palladio, Andrea, 1508-1580  Il Redentore Church / Nathan O'Brien.  Images from an undergraduate dissertation of the interior of the Il Redentore church on the island Chiesa del Redentore in Venice. The building was designed by Andrea Palladio (in 1577) and was completed in 1592. The images were produced using Rayshade (version 4). 
Palladio's Italian villas / Carl I. Gable.  Profiles eighteen Renaissance villas which survive in the Veneto region around Venice, Italy.

Philosophy Architecture and Humanities=Arquitectura y Humanidades / Postgraduate School of Architecture, National Autonomous University of Mexico.  A project which surfaced in 1999 as the outcome of the "Architecture and Humanities" Master's Degree in Architectural Design Research Workshop from UNAM.  Aims to explore the origins and essence of what Architecture is. It is also an "interactive space of knowledge...which promotes research and tries to diffuse a more humane vision when faced with Architecture, emphasizing the design."
Implosion: Anthropology of habitat and architecture / Nold Egenter.  Pluridisciplinary website on Architecture and Habitat Anthropology.  For those interested in reconstructing cultural evolution based on constructive behaviour. The "primary focus is on fibroconstructive objects, semantic and symbolic processes, as well as on sedentarisation, domestication and extended territorial control."  The site includes sections on Japanology and Indology. (Egenter, Oct 2000)
Piano, Renzo Out of the blue: Renzo Piano Building Workshop / Kunst-und Ausstellungshalle der Bundesrepublik Deutschland.  Exhibition which aims to "pass on the experience which Renzo Piano has gathered through his building projects around the world."  Profiles 8 buildings, including the Centre Pompidou, Kansai International Airport, Center for Culture J.M. Tjibaou and Potsdamer Platz.
Renzo Piano Building Workshop / RPBW.  Website of the Foundation. Describes the foundation's aims and includes a biography of Piano including indepth commentary on his works and links to the websites of some of his buildings.

Prizes & awards Aga Khan Award for Architecture:  2007 Awards / Web page dedicated to the 2007 ceremony and winners.
Aguirre Newman Arquitectura - iAZ ZONE International Awards / Internet Architecture Zone (iAZ).  Granted yearly to support and highlight the professional and academic initiatives of young architects.  The Awards are granted in four categories, two international and two Spanish.
Architectural Institute of Japan Architectural Design Prize / AIJ.  Given to outstanding architectural designs(including landscape, interior, etc.) completed in recent years, which have a high standard from both social and cultural point of views, and which contribute to the comprehensive development of technique and art. The prize is given to a maximum of 3 designs annually. 
Kenneth F. Brown Asia Pacific Culture & Architecture Design Award / School of Architecture, University of Hawaii at Manoa.  Honors contemporary architecture in Asia and the Pacific Region that successfully balance the spiritual and material aspects in designing an environment that is in harmony with its natural and cultural setting. 
Pritzker Architecture Prize / Hyatt Foundation.  Current information about the world's most prestigious architecture award and its Laureates. 
RAIA Architecture Awards / Royal Australian Institute of Architects.  RAIA's online architecture gallery 'architecture.com.au projects' contains state and national winners from the Institute’s awards program. 
UIA Gold Medal and Prizes / UIA (International Union of Architects).  Awarded every 3 years.  The Gold Medal is awarded to a living architect in recognition of their lifelong achievements and contributions to the benefit of man and society, and the promotion of the art of architecture.  The architecture prizes include: The Auguste Perret Prize, for applied technology in architecture; The Jean Tschumi Prize, for architectural criticism and/or architectural education; The Sir Robert Matthew Prize, for the improvement in the quality of human settlements.
Veronica Rudge Green Prize in Urban Design / Harvard Design School.  Awarded biannually to recognize excellence in urban design with an emphasis on projects that contribute to the public realm of a city and improve the quality of urban life.

Richard Meier & Partners Architecture of the Getty Center, Los Angeles, California / C.S. Rhyne, Professor Emeritus, Art History, Reed College.  After fourteen years of planning, design and construction, the J. Paul Getty Center in L.A. opened to the public in December 1997. It is one of the largest privately funded architectural complexes ever designed and constructed in a single architectural campaign.  The site focuses on the architecture of the Center, including its landscaping.  Photographs and text provide images of additional aspects of the architecture, landscaping, and details.  Includes an annotated bibliography to assist students, architects, and others interested in exploring other publications dealing with this much discussed architectural complex.

Roadside architecture  Diner city / Ron Saari.  "A comprehensive guide to classic diners and the American roadside".  Includes diner facts and a list of recommended reading.  Searchable by state.
Googie architecture / Chris Jepsen.  Website devoted to Googie, a style of architecture that thrived in the 1950s and early 1960s, designed to make the most of strip shopping centers and other roadside locations. It fit the needs of the new California "car culture" and the dreams of the even newer space age.  Googie has also been known as Populuxe, Doo-Wop, Coffee Shop Modern, Jet Age, Space Age and Chinese Modern.

Forum of Trajan in Rome: a virtual tour / ArtsEdNet.  This Web exhibition draws from "Beyond Beauty: Antiquities as Evidence," the major opening exhibition at the J. Paul Getty Museum at the Getty Center in 1999.  The exhibition focuses on a virtual reality model of the forum built by the Emperor Trajan, one of the most important monuments of Imperial Rome.  This virtual reality (VR) model re-creates an ancient urban environment based on the best archaeological evidence available today.
LacusCurtius: Into the Roman World / Bill Thayer, University of Kansas.  One of the largest sites on the web about ancient Rome.  A complex site which includes "photographs, Latin texts, public domain classics...maps, book reviews, bibliographies...and a list of over 1,600 sites deading with ancient Rome."  The site will be of interest to scholars of Roman and Etruscan antiquities, particularly those with an interest in the architecture of the time. (Electronic Resources Review, 3 (6) 1999).
Maecenas: Images of Greece & Rome / Leo C. Curran, University of Buffalo.  The project is funded by grants from the Classical Association of the Empire State and the Classical Association of the Atlantic States.
Pompeii Forum Project / Prof J.J. Dobbins, University of Virginia.  A unique interdisciplinary venture. The goals are to provide the first systematic documentation of the architecture and decoration of the forum, to interpret evidence as it pertains to Pompeii's urban history, and to make wider contributions to both the history of urbanism and contemporary problems of urban design.  The site is divided into 4 main sections: Archival Photographs, Notes for Students & Teachers, Volcanic/Seismic Structural Response Investigation.
