Recalls

Placing recalls

  • You may recall a book if it is 'Charged' on Voyager i.e. out on loan, by placing the request on Voyager yourself. Display the item record for the item you require and click on the 'Recall' button at the top of the screen.
  • You can also request staff at the Lending Desk to place the recall for you on items which are 'on hold' or 'in-transit'.
  • You will need your ID card, the call number, and title of the items you wish to recall.
  • If Voyager shows a book has been recently discharged, but has not been re-shelved, staff will check the Book Returns trolley upon request.

When a book is recalled

  • All items on loan are subject to recall. Recalled items are required to be returned by the new due date, which overrides the date stamped inside the item.
  • The Library regulations state that books on loan are subject to recall within 24 hours.
  • Once a book has been recalled by another patron, a recall notice will be sent to you providing the new due date.
  • Recalled books should be returned through the Returns slot at the Music and Dance Library desk, in the After Hours book returns slot located next to the Music and Dance Library's front door, or to the General Library.
  • One overdue recall will result in your borrowing privileges being temporarily withdrawn.
  • The effectiveness of the recall service depends on the prompt return of recalled books.

Availability of recalled items

  • An item availability notice for items will be sent to patrons with an internal (University) address or to those who have provided an email address to the Library.
  • The notice will indicate the expiry date i.e. the date by which the book must be collected.
  • If you don't have an internal address or e-mail address you can check the status of items you have recalled by clicking on 'Patron' in Voyager.
  • By clicking on 'Patron' in Voyager you can check the status of items you have recalled and those available for pick-up.
  • Recalled and reserved books are held at the Lending Desk for 5 days until the expiry date.
  • If you have any queries relating to the recalling of books, please contact Roland Brownlee ph.3737-599, ext. 85093, or d.brownlee@auckland.ac.nz
