About

Te Huka-ā-tai: Māori Information Commons, formerly known as the Māori Studies Library was transformed into a "mini" Information Commons in 2002. It is used primarily by students undertaking Māori Studies and Māori Education courses. Te Huka-ā-tai provides access to individual computer workstations, a printer, a helpdesk area, a group study area, individual study carrels and a photocopier.

As the Māori Studies Library, Te Huka-ā-tai held a manuscript, video, and microtext collections, which during 2002 were moved to the General Library, Level G, in Special Collections. Part of the collection was merged with the current Mātauranga Māori collection including, borrowable monographs, serials and some fascimilies of manuscripts including the Papatupu Minute Books, the George Grey, John White and Shortland manuscripts.

From 1 January 2010, Te Huka-ā-tai now comes under the Faculty of Arts. For further information please click here.
