Renewals

You renew items yourself on Library Search before their date due. We do not provide renewals by phone or email.

To renew items

Go to the University of Auckland Library website

  • Click on Library Search.
  • Click on Sign in at the top right.
  • Log in with NetID and Password.
  • Click on My Library Account at the top right.
  • Find the List of Active Loans.
  • Click the Renew link at the right of any book(s) you wish to renew.
  • Check the new due date of each item renewed.

Recalled items

All items issued to you are subject to recall. If another borrower recalls an item you have on loan, the loan period will be shortened, and you will receive a recall notice giving the new due date. The item must reach the Library before the new due date, or fines of $3 per day per overdue recalled item will apply and you may be blocked from further borrowing.

Delivery and Returns

Turnaround time for requests

You need to request resources well in advance of deadlines for assignments. Processing requests and the delivery of resources takes time. We do not offer an urgent service; we process requests in the order they are received and all have the same priority.

Delivery of resources to you

When resources are delivered to you by courier or email attachment, there is no charge to you. Courier delivery is not offered in the weekends; resources collected by the courier on a Friday will not be delivered until the following week. If an item is lost while being delivered to you, we are responsible for any costs and will pay for items lost in transit from the library to you.

Returning resources

To avoid overdue fines, ensure you return items before the due date. Check due dates and renew items in My Library Account (in Library Search), following the steps above. You are responsible for charges for returning resources. Once an item has been signed for, you are responsible for it. If an item is lost while being returned to us, you are responsible for tracing and/or paying for it and any overdue fines accumulated during the search process. You may return items in person to any University of Auckland Library. See the locations of University of Auckland Libraries.

Charges

Fines

Overdue items issued for normal loan periods incur a fine of 25c per day. Overdue recalled items incur a fine of $3.00 per day. If total fines reach $10 or more, you are unable to borrow or renew any items. You can see the details of any fines owing in My Library Account in Library Search.

Payments

You can pay any fines or fees owing in person at any University of Auckland Library. You can also pay any fines or fees owing by post. When paying by cheque, please provide your full name and Student ID number, and indicate what the payment is for. Make cheques payable to “University of Auckland”. Post to:
