  • Will automatically limit a search to theses held at the University of Auckland. Search for Anthropology (for all Anthropology Dept theses), Social Anthropology, Archaeology or other Anthro keywords
  • From the the Library Catalogue record click on Online booking form to book a General Library copy (one day loan), or
  • Click on the Request Tab to place an Intercampus request and obtain a borrowable copy from Off-Campus Storage.

• Union or national catalogues show the combined library holdings for a country:

  • Te Puna - The New Zealand National Bibliographic Database
    Shows the combined library holdings for all New Zealand libraries (books, theses, journals and other material). Use the Advanced Search combined with Subject Heading searching (as for the Library Catalogue). Select 'More Limits' to limit to items @Universities. Search for theses by adding 'thesis' or 'dissertation' to your search. Older New Zealand theses and dissertations (pre-1987) are generally not listed on Te Puna. You will need to look at individual university library catalogues or the printed Union list of higher degree theses.
  • Australian National Bibliographic Database
    Includes holdings of all major Australian libraries. Covers published material and theses. 

• ProQuest Dissertations & Theses
  Formerly called Digital Dissertations, this database covers PhD dissertations and masters’ theses completed at over 1000 accredited colleges and universities worldwide. Full text (PDFs) from 1996
• Australian Digital Theses Program
  A distributed database of digitised theses produced at 22 Australian Universities. Provides access to PhD and Masters by Research theses only. 1700+ theses are listed (Nov 2003)

• The journal of Pacific history : bibliography
  • Previously called Pacific history bibliography and comment.
  • Annually lists theses on Pacific history, anthropology and prehistory from around the world 
• A bibliography of Pacific Island theses and dissertations
• Catalogue of theses and dissertations relating to the Samoan Islands
• World catalogue of theses and dissertations relating to Papua New Guinea
• Pacific Island dissertations and theses from the University of Hawaii, 1923-1996
  • No abstracts, but arranged by subject
  • Online as Pacific Island dissertations and theses from the University of Hawaii, 1923-2000
  • Alternatively search the University of Hawaii Libraries catalogue. They also hold a good selection of Pacific-related theses from America and other countries
• A catalogue of theses submitted at the University of Papua New Guinea, 1970-1990
• Union list of higher degree theses
  Includes various titles. Covers theses completed at New Zealand universities since 1910
• Union list of higher degree theses in Australian libraries
  (1965-1989). After 1989 there is a database at the National Library of Australia
• Annotated bibliography of theses in social anthropology at the University of Auckland, 1955-1971
• Introductory essay and annotated bibliography of theses in social anthropology at the University of Auckland, 1972-1984
