The Library supports a range of tools that enable researchers at all levels to store and manage references, and appropriately acknowledge sources of information or ideas.

 


Referencite

  • Learn the basics of referencing.
  • Use Quickcite to create examples of references.  This interactive tool covers a range of styles used at The University of Auckland.

RefWorks

  • A web-based tool to store and manage your references, collaborate on group work and format your papers.
  • Refer to the RefWorks/EndNote comparison table to see which referencing tool is right for you.

EndNote

  • A sophisticated desktop tool for storing and managing bibliographic references.
  • Refer to the RefWorks/EndNote comparison table to see which referencing tool is right for you.

Turnitin

  • Turnitin is a programme that checks the originality of your work against electronic sources.
  • Lecturers will advise students when they are required to use this service.

Your responsibility Always check your RefWorks / EndNote references against your referencing style. Sometimes the tools produce errors you will need to correct.

Note

  • RefWorks and EndNote are the two reference management tools officially supported by The University of Auckland Library.
  • RefWorks and EndNote are compatible with each other allowing you to export references from EndNote to RefWorks and vice versa. 
  • The University of Auckland has a trial subscription for RefWorks until the end of 2012. It is proposed that the subscription will be continued from 2013, this will be confirmed in Semester Two 2012.
