  • American Film Scripts Online
    An online collection of feature film scripts that will eventually contain 1,000 scripts and over 100,000 scenes. Many of the scripts have never before been published. The database is full-text searchable and includes detailed indexing on scenes, characters, and people.
  • China Academic Journals
    Full-text collection of Chinese language journals from CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure). The Library's licence covers series F, the literature/history/philosophy collection from 1994. This collection comprises over 300 publications.   • International Directory of Medievalists
    Online directory published by Brepolis under the auspices of the Fédération Internationale des Instituts d'Etudes Médiévales. Companion database to the International Medieval Bibliography and the Bibliographie de Civilisation Médiévale.
  • Knovel
    An online collection of over 600 engineering and science books from a wide range of publishers.
  • PCI Full Text
    A major online periodical archive in the humanities and social sciences, covering over 300 journals from their inception and providing access to over a million articles. Individual journals are linked from Voyager.
  • SCOPUS
    Scopus is a new multidisciplinary navigational tool for scientific information. It includes approximately 27 million abstracts from 1966, covering 14,000 peer-reviewed titles from 4,000 publishers. Additional information about this product is available at: http://www.info.scopus.com/

  • General Library - Maintenance
    Maintenance is currently being undertaken at the General Library. As a result, some floors are closed off temporarily. The situation changes daily. Material may be requested at the Lending Desk and will be retrieved as soon as possible.

  • READ-ONLY VOYAGER FROM 10/12/04 - 14/12/04
    As a result of the recent merger between the University of Auckland and the Auckland College of Education, the bibliographic records and holdings of the Sylvia Ashton-Warner Library are being added to Voyager. This process will begin on Friday 10th December at 9am with a projected completion time of Wednesday 15th December.

    During this period this Read-Only version of the Voyager catalogue will be available. This will provide full search capabilities, but will not allow any updating of the database (including lending information) Books may still be issued and renewed at your nearest Lending desk.

  • General Library Closed - Saturday 11th December.
    The General Library will be closed on Saturday 11th December. Work is scheduled to finish spray painting the main stairwell which will be noisy and will create unpleasant fumes. The noise and fumes will affect most of the building because of the nature of the space.

    Study space is available in the Kate Edger Information Commons.

  • Art Full Text
    A full-text version of Art Abstracts containing full-text articles from more than 100 periodicals. Indexing begins 1984, with full-text from 1997. This database is on the WilsonWeb platform and will replace the OVID version of Art Abstracts.
  • Compendex archive
    The Library's Compendex licence on Engineering Village 2 has been enhanced to cover access to Engineering Index from its inception in 1884. The archive 1884-1968 comprises more than 1.7 million records.
  • Dictionary of Old English Corpus
    Offers simple, Boolean and proximity searching across more than 3,000 Old English works, providing a keyword-in-context display. It is not possible to access complete texts through this database.
  • Encyclopedia of Spectroscopy and Spectrometry
    A major reference work on ScienceDirect covering all aspects of spectroscopy, mass spectrometry and scattering phenomena.
  • Humanities and social science index retrospective
    Online index on the WilsonWeb platform covering a wide range of arts and social science journals for the period 1907-1984.
  • New Zealand government directory online
    A useful guide to New Zealand's political and public sectors that is updated continuously. The directory contains full listings for all Government and state sector organisations.
  • Nineteenth century short title catalogue
    Online version of the NCSTC, aiming to provide listings of all British books printed between 1801-1919. It covers books published in Britain, its colonies and United States of America; all books in English wherever published; and all translations from English.
  • Referex
    More than 300 searchable books on chemical, petrochemical and process engineering, mechanical and materials engineering, and electronics & electrical engineering. Connect to the Ei Village search screen and select the 'eBooks Search' tab.
  • SpecInfo
    Desktop access to collections in mass spectrometry, nuclear magnetic resonance, and infrared and near infrared spectroscopy.
  • Wiley InterScience chemistry backfile
    In conjunction with the Library's current Wiley InterScience journal licence this archive will provide complete coverage of eleven chemistry journals, including Applied organometallic chemistry, Helvetica chimica acta, and the Journal fuer praktische Chemie. When complete it will comprise over 63,000 articles. It can be browsed at http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/cgi-bin/browsebycollection?code=CHCOL. The individual journals are linked from Voyager.

  • Bibliographie de Civilisation Medievale
    A new online database from BREPOLS, designed as a companion to the International Medieval Bibliography, BCM Online aims to provide a comprehensive current bibliography of monographs on the Middle Ages published worldwide.
  • Methods in Enzymology
    University users now have access to complete holdings of this series on ScienceDirect, from vol. 1, 1955.
  • Oxford Dictionary of National Biography
    50,000 concise readable biographies of people who shaped the history of the British Isles from the earliest times. No living person is included: the Dictionary's articles are confined to people who died before 31 December 2000.
  • Times Digital Archive
    Searchable full-text archive of the Times (London) and its predecessor, the Daily Universal Register. The database contains facsimile images of every issue published 1785-1985, including articles, photographs, letters, advertisements.
  • Wiley Database of Polymer Properties
    A comprehensive source of physical property data for commercially available polymers, updated quarterly. Includes experimentally determined and selected data for over 2,500 polymers.
  • Wiley InterScience Neuroscience Back-file
    In conjunction with the Library's current InterScience licence this archive provides complete coverage of 14 neuroscience journals published by John Wiley, including Annals of neurology, Drug development research, the Journal of comparative neurology, and the Journal of neurobiology.

  • Ebook Usage
    Usage of the Library's large ebook collection continues to grow rapidly, with more than 288,000 titles now available, including collections from Ebsco, Ebrary, EEBO and and EECO.

  • OFFSTATS
    Thomson ISI has selected the Library produced OFFSTATS: Official statistics on the web website for inclusion in Current Web Contents, a value-added section of Current Contents Connect.

  • Auckland Index
    Prepared by the Auckland City Library and now available on the Knowledge Basket platform, Auckland Index is a rich resource of history, art, theatre, film and music references sourced from Auckland area newspapers and journal articles.
  • ALPSP Collection
    A collection of over 250 ejournals published by members by the Association of Learned and Professional Society publishers in partnership with Swets Subscription Services. ALPSP members include Multilingual Matters, the Royal Society, Walter de Gruyter, OECD, and the British Psychological Society.   • Mechanical & Transportation Engineering Abstracts
    Indexing and abstracting service from Cambridge Scientific covering the serials literature in mechanical and transportation engineering and their complementary fields, including forensic engineering, management and marketing of engineering services, engineering education, theoretical mechanics and dynamics, and mathematics and computation.
  • Organic Reactions Database
    An online fully searchable database of important synthetic reactions. Each reaction is presented with information about the reaction conditions, yield, products, and is fully referenced to the primary literature.
  • ScienceDirect back-file supplements
    The Library's full-text journal holdings on ScienceDirect have been enhanced with the acquisition of nine subject collections supplementing back-files acquired earlier. These collections comprise mostly Academic Press journals, acquired by Elsevier after the release of the original archives. Subject areas include business, management, and accounting; chemistry, chemical engineering; economics, econometrics, and finance; mathematics; psychology. All journals are individually linked from Voyager.
  • ScienceDirect Business, Management & Economics Book Series
    An online collection of 54 monograph series (mostly annuals) in a wide range of subjects- accounting, economics, international business, marketing, organisational behaviour, leadership, entrepreneurship and innovation, cognitive psychology. Coverage is usually from the 2000 volume. All titles are individually linked from Voyager.

  • Wiley InterScience Materials Science Back-File
    In conjunction with the Library's current licence this archive provides complete online coverage of 14 materials science journals published by John Wiley, including Advanced materials, and the Journal of biomedical materials research. All journals are linked from Voyager.

  • ASM Handbooks Online
    Online version of all current handbooks from the American Society for Metals.
  • EconLibrary
    An online database that comprising more than 300,000 bibliographic references from 500 leading journals of business and economics.
  • Gender Studies Database
    A new online indexing and abstracting tool which incorporates and replaces Women's Studies International. Comprising over 552,000 citations, it incorporates data from several other popular BiblioLine databases from NISC, including Men's Studies and Sexual Diversity Studies.
  • JSTOR Arts & Science IV and Complement
    The Library's JSTOR licence has been enhanced to include two new multi-disciplinary journal collections described at http://www.jstor.org/about/collection.list.html#multi. All journal archives released to date are linked from Voyager.
  • Journals@OVID
    A collection of 23 medical journals from BMJ Publishing has been added to the Library's Journals@OVID holdings. To retrieve a title list for this package use a Voyager call number search on: ejournal journals@ovid bmj Both University and ADHB users have full-text access to this collection.
  • ProQuest Historical Newspapers. New York Times
    A searchable full-image archive providing archival coverage of The New York Times from 1851. The database includes every page of every issue from cover to cover, with full-page and article images in downloadable PDF. This archive will be updated annually, but current issues are not included.
  • SAE Digital Library
    Provides online full-text access to more than 18,000 technical papers published by the Society of Automotive Engineers from 1998 to date.
  • ScienceDirect
    The ScienceDirect Medicine & Dentistry back-file is now available to University users. In conjunction with the Library's current licence this archive provides complete coverage of over 280 journals, with holdings extending back into the early 1900's in some cases. Details of the back-file are available at http://www.info.sciencedirect.com/backfiles/collections/medicine_dentistry/index.shtml All journals have been linked from Voyager.
  • Skolar MD
    An online database designed to improve patient care and facilitate continuing medical education, Skolar MD provides physicians with immediate access to highly regarded sources of information. Skolar is available to both University and ADHB users.

    The Library has purchased the complete Web of Science back-file, providing online access to the Science Citation Index from 1945, the Social Sciences Citation Index from 1956, and the Arts & Humanities Citation Index from 1975.
  • BioOne
    A collection of more than 60 research journals in biological and environmental sciences. The journals are catalogued and linked individually in Voyager. You can retrieve a title list using a call number search on: ejournal bioone
  • Biological Abstracts
    Our OVID licence has been upgraded from 10 to 15 concurrent users.
  • Wiley Biotechnology Back-file
    Wiley Interscience journal coverage has been enhanced through acquisition of the Biotechnology back-file. In conjunction with our current licence this archive gives access to all issues of Acta Biotechnologica, Biopolymers, the Journal of cellular biochemistry, and twelve other titles. The collection, which is not yet fully released, is described in more detail at http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/.
  • Project Euclid
    An online collection of mathematics and statistics journals digitised by the Cornell University Library. University users currently have access to a collection of 10 journals, known as the Project Euclid Prime Collection. The collection is due for enhancement later in the year.   • Cell Press.
    Our Cell Press site licence has been upgraded giving University users online access to all Cell Press journals through the ScienceDirect interface.   • Angewandte Chemie

  • Hardcopy exam papers (General Library)
    Hardcopy exam papers are no longer held on Level 1 of the General Library. Exam papers from 2001 are available online from LEARN > Readings & Exams. Exam papers previous to this are available via the Inter-campus delivery service.

    A full-text collection from Ebsco Publishing, combining content from Australian and New Zealand magazines, newspapers & newswires, reference books, and company information.
  • Biography Resource Center
    An online database from Thomson Gale containing more than 1.4 million biographies. It incorporates material from over 100 Gale Group reference publications, including the Complete Marquis Who's Who, Contemporary Authors, and the Encyclopedia of World Biography.
  • Business and Industry
    An online database from Thomson Gale providing citations and some full text on the literature on companies, industries, markets and products.
  • Business and Management Practices
    An online database from Thomson Gale providing citations and some full text on the practical aspects and approaches of business management, including business planning, decision making and management issues.
  • Cambridge Journals Online

  • Health and Wellness Resource Center
    An online database from Thomson Gale, providing full-text materials, abstracts and citations to patient and consumer health information. Provides browsable access to Gale encyclopedia of medicine, Mosby's medical, nursing & allied health dictionary, and similar reference resources.
  • History Resource Center, Modern World
    An online database on twentieth century history, integrating full-text books from Gale, Macmillan and Scribner, articles from more than 100 academic journals, full-text and facsimile images of over 1,400 primary documents.
  • InsideWellington
    A weekly report on Parliament, legislation, policy, and central/regional government news from David Nicholson.
  • Nineteenth Century Masterfile. Series I
    An online index from Paratext containing over a million citations to periodical articles published from the late eighteenth century to the early twentieth century. Incorporates a variety of periodical indexes originally published in print format, including: Poole's Index to periodical literature, 1802-1907; Index to legal periodical literature, 1786-1922; Stead's Index to periodicals, 1890-1902; Alphabetical subject index and index encyclopedia to periodical articles on religion, 1890-1899 (edited E. C. Richardson).
  • Oxford Reference Online
    The Library has upgraded its Oxford Reference Online subscription from the "core" to the "premium" collection, giving access the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations and a set of the Oxford Companions, including the Oxford Companion to English Literature, the Oxford Companion to Western Art, the Oxford Companion to the Bible, etc. The user licence has been upgraded to provide unlimited concurrent usage.
  • TableBase
    An international database that specializes in tabular data relating to companies, products, industries, and demographics.
  • TNS Regional Reports
    A collection 40 regional reports for New Zealand covering demographics, business activity, economic conditions. The reports can be searched and browsed through the Knowledge Basket interface.

  • Antarctic Bibliography
    Covers all disciplines related to the Antarctic region, including biological and geological sciences, medical sciences, meteorology, oceanography, atmospheric and terrestrial physics, expeditions, logistics equipment and supplies, and tourism. Combined searches with it companion database, the Bibliography on Cold Regions Science and Technology, are possible.
  • ATLA Religion Database with ATLASerials
    There is a change of interface from SilverPlatter to Ebsco, and the licence has been upgraded to provide unlimited concurrent usage and access to full-text content from more than 60 journals.
  • Bibliography on Cold Regions Science and Technology
    Covers scientific and engineering research related to material and operations in a winter battlefield, the nature and impact of cold on facilities and activities, cold-related environmental problems, and the impact of human activity on cold environments. Combined searches with its companion database, the Antarctic Bibliography, are possible.
  • Eighteenth Century Collections Online
    The last three subject modules were released this month- Religion and Philosophy, Law, and General Reference. The collection now includes around 150,000 works published 1701-1800. Linked bibliographic records describing the individual books will be added to Voyager later this year.
  • Encyclopedia of Environmental Microbiology
    Provides comprehensive coverage of the various fields within environmental microbiology: aeromicrobiology, aquatic, freshwater, marine, subsurface, soil, extreme environments, biodegredation, public health, drinking water, wastewater, biofilms, biotechnology, methodology.
  • Kluwer Academic
    University users now have full-text access to almost all journals published by Kluwer Academic in digital format. At present the collection comprises 675 titles, of which 85% are available to us via the web for the first time. The Kluwer Academic list is primarily scientific and medical, but the collection includes some journals in the areas of Business & Economics, Arts, and Law.     Database of calls for papers, developed to assist scientists and student researchers who have found it difficult and time-consuming to track calls for papers from professional bodies, universities, journal editors, and conference organizers.

    Our licence has been upgraded from 3 to 5 concurrent users or "seats".

  • Mary Ann Liebert.
    A new licence agreement provides online access to all Mary Ann Liebert journals through the Ingenta Select interface. The collection comprises 64 journals at present, with a focus on bioscience and medicine. You can retrieve a title list using a Voyager call number search on: ejournal ingenta select liebert.
  • Royal Society of Chemistry Journals Archive.
    Comprising more than 200,000 papers, the collection incorporates all RSC journals published 1841-1996. The individual journals are linked from Voyager.
  • Springer Verlag.
    University users now have access to all journals available online through Springer LINK. The collection comprises over 460 journals, largely in areas such as science, medicine, mathematics, and economics. All journals are linked from Voyager.   • Book Returns machine
    A new Book Returns machine has recently been installed in the Short Loan Collection in the Kate Edger Information Commons. This 3M Smart Check, which is accessible from the Foyer outside Short Loan entrance on Level one, is the first such installation in Australasia. All Short Loan Books should be returned here. They will be discharged automatically and a Receipt for return of items is available. It is accessible all the hours that The Information Commons is open.

  • LEARN link is the University of Auckland Library's new linking service that connects citation databases to full-text from a range of sources including: electronic journals; print journals from Voyager (the library catalogue); and the Internet. Approximately 11,000 full text electronic journals have been activated as linking "targets".

  • Electronic course reading articles now available.
    The Library is carrying out an electronic course reading pilot project with the support of funding from the Vice Chancellor's Strategic Fund. The aim of the project is to make recommended articles and book chapters available electronically, via the LEARN web gateway by the start of Semester 1.

    The pilot focuses on existing photocopy material held in the Short Loan Collection in the Kate Edger Information Commons for departments of the Arts, Business and Science Faculties. All the material has now been digitised and is available electronically and therefore accessible 24 hours a day/ seven days a week. It can be accessed through the Voyager 'Course Material' Search.

    New requests for electronic course readings for 2004 for the KEIC short loan collection should be submitted by teaching staff, using the on the on-line request form at:

    These readings will also be available electronically.

     

  • APEC Fulltext Studies
    A collection of reports published by APEC on many facets of the member states' economies- finance, trade, environment, human resources development, education and women's issues.
  • EMBO
    We have a new site licence for EMBO Journal and EMBO Reports.
  • JSTOR Arts & Science III
    This collection builds on the Language & Literature and Music sets released earlier. Scheduled for completion in 2005, this archival collection will eventually include more than 120 titles. It is described more fully at http://www.jstor.org/about/collection.list.html#multi. The initial release covers titles in art and architectural history, including Art Journal, the Burlington Magazine , Journal of the Society of Architectural Historians, and Journal of the Warburg and Courtauld Institutes. All journals in JSTOR are linked from Voyager.
  • Nature Archive
    Our Nature site licence has been enhanced to cover 1987-1996. Users now have online access to all issues of the weekly journal from 1 January 1987, v. 325, no. 6099.
