Lending Services are available to help patrons with all procedures related to borrowing, recalling and returning books, and library fines, fees and Interlibrary Loan charge enquiries. In addition, Lending Services staff are responsible for shelving, locating missing books, and monitoring compliance with the Library Regulations in the reading areas to ensure a pleasant and secure environment for study.

A Library Mobile application is now available for all Internet-enabled phones. With the free application you can search the Catalogue, renew or recall books, and more.

Library fines and fees

You will be held financially responsible for all items borrowed on your card. The following policies and fine schedules apply:

Loan period
Overdue charges
28 and 60 days 25 cents per day
3, 5 and 7 days $3.00 per day
1, 2 and 3 hours 5 cents per minute ($3.00 per hour)
Recalled item $3.00 per day

If any items are 30 days overdue, the borrower will incur the following costs per item:

  • replacement cost of the item or the cost of the latest edition, as determined by the University Librarian (refundable if the item is returned)
  • a $15 processing fee (non-refundable)
  • a maximum of $7.50 (overdue fine) or $45.00 (overdue recall fine)

Overdue high demand items (such as 2 hour loans or 5 day loans) may be liable for an additional fine of $20 (up to a total of $60) each time the item is not available for a reservation.

Library fines can be paid at the Lending Desk. Some libraries only accept EFTPOS payments. Payments can also be made by credit card.
